“Simply the final blow in a stream
of gestures that translate across rock & roll forms…
There’s an alarming lack of things to find fault with
in their music or its execution.”
--Mike Wolf, Time Out New York
“Any Swede in a suit can attempt Stooges theft and
make it passable, but these three young American gents do
their rock ‘n’ roll right.”
--Jeff Terich, Treble
“Drums that sound like they are played with tree limbs,
angry, whiplashed guitars and snarled, over-amped vocals
... A rocket-fueled blast of energy and brains, packed with
songs and sounds that will blow you away.”
--Tim Sendra, All Music

Awesome Color’s debut full-length is
a mother of a scorched groover. Just check out the track “Free
Man,” it says it all. Primal o-mind rhythm with boss-bliss
lyrix and a lead guitar lick-lashing that’ll have you
cryin’ “hell yes!” every time.
Awesome Color came out of Ann Arbor, Michigan where singer
and guitarist Derek Stanton grew up across the street from
Scott “Rock Action” Asheton of The Stooges. Needless
to say he picked up a few things about rock ‘n’
roll around the neighborhood, things he’ll never forget.
When the time was right, Stanton, drummer Allison Busch and
bassist Michael Troutman jumped in a bombed out car and headed
for Brooklyn, New York. And began to blow minds.
Live, they transfix with heavy, cosmic guitars and a rhythm
section like a freight train. When they play, they’re
often joined by brothers and sisters grabbing instruments
and getting loud: bare foot guitar solos, sax in the aisles
and wolf dancing all around.
